The Department of neuro-ophthalmology deals with vision problems and disorders associated with the nervous system that affects vision, control of eye movements, and papillary reflexes. The department has access to the most advanced visual electrophysiological tests including VEP and ERG.
Neuro Ophthalmology is the subspecialty of ophthalmology, which deals with vision problems/disorders associated with the nervous system. it includes diseases that affect vision, control of eye movements or pupillary reflexes.
Some of the symptoms of such disorders include, headaches, double vision(diplopia), Nystagmus (continuous eye movement), Blepherospasm (twitching of eye muscles).examples of Neurophthalmological disorders are: Optic Neuritis, Optic Neuropathies, Papiloedema, Extraocular muscle paralysis.
Neuro Ophthalmology issues need to be addressed as promptly as possible, before they cause irreparable damage.
